I have over 10,000 photos of the GNRR. God bless digital cameras! Over the next few months I'll post them on the blog for reference material, and will shoot some more on Saturday.
The yellow crosstie remained a mystery for some time until we found out by accident that it means there is a drainage pipe located below with a small creek running through it. A very interesting yard detail.
Here is another creek marker.
This is the mainline out of the yard going up a very steep grade to a road crossing on Marr road. There is (or was) a constant flow of chemical tank cars.
This is the siding for Blue Circle Cement.
There is always a supply of junked rail cars laying around, this one without an markings of any kind.
A lot of right-of way junk will make for an interesting model.
8705 sits here silently, probably waiting to go north for repairs as she was leaking fuel on the ground.
7562 heading north with a load.
Not belching black smoke today. At least not yet.
Ok, now for a little smoke.
My buddy Rick Coble shot this very nice picture of the "then" home office. They have since built a concrete block structure, but still use the passenger car.
The road on the left is Tower Road, probably because there was a tower here once. It is a great place to watch the traffic!
Make a decal of this cool sign. I'm not even sure that "prohibo el paso" is the correct wording for "keep out!"
